I entered this portrait in the competition '100 Images of the Year 2006' of the Gesellschaft für Fotografie e.V. in Germany, and won the special award of the publishers Marianne, Berlin.
It is an image of my sister, and it was not taken in a studio. In fact, it was not staged at all. It was a snapshot I took of her across the lunch table at her in-laws' house.
It is, however, a very important image to me as it shows my sister the way I see and love her: calm and serene.
