My problem was that I made things look pretty, my photography tutor once told me, as he returned a documentary course project about decaying and neglected parts of my hometown. I don't think of it as a problem, though. I just always - still - look for beauty in a person, a setting, a situation. It is that which I attempt to make visible in my pictures, honestly and without having to gloss over anything. After all, beauty is not always obvious, and there is always a different angle to see things from. Welcome to my world view. |
